The Oriental Garden, Haddington

This gem of a wee garden is close to the care home where I now live and is maintained by local volunteers. It’s on either side of the old mill stream. The picture was taken last August. Now it’s full of spring flowers: daffodils, narcissi, crocuses, polyanthus and forsythia. The cherry tree is in bud and the willow has fresh green leaves. There’s a small pond but so far I’ve seen no sign of frogs.

I love to sit there on a sunny day breathing in the flowers’ scent, listening to birdsong and the water rippling by.
